BINGHAM COUNTY HUMANE SOCIETY
PRE-ADOPTION APPLICATION

We are very excited that you have decided to adopt one of our kitties! We have just a few questions for you, to make sure everyone gets their happy beginning. Getting a new kitty is like getting a new family member. They need to be treated with love and cared for. It is very important that everyone in the household is on board and will be caring to a new addition. If you can’t answer yes to all these questions, it is probably not a good time for you to be adopting a kitty.

This Adoption Application is not intended to be a binding document but provides for advanced notice to the Bingham County Humane Society of your desire to adopt a specific pet.  This pet identification may have been from a visit to the BCHS shelter, or observations made through our website or PetFinder.

If this application is to secure interest in a kitty who is not yet up for formal adoption (new born kitten or kitty currently under treatment), this information will also be used to provide to you, periodic updates on the kitty’s progress.

This Application is for Kitties that are not yet spayed/neutered, under medical recover or evaluation and not ready to be formally adopted and are identified on the Kitties Not Yet Ready to be adopted page.  If you want to enter an adoption application for a kitty ready to adopt, please use the application button on the Kitties Ready to Adopt page.

Please fill out and submit the information highlighted in Green

  • Adopter agrees pet will not be used in research of illegal activities.

  • Adopter agrees to provide adequate food, water, shelter, medical care and emotional support for pet.

  • Adopter may return pet within 30 days and receive a voucher for another BCHS pet.

  • Adopter agrees to accept pet as his/her own risk, hereby releasing and waving any right that he/she may have now or in the future for any damages to person or property caused by pet.

  • Adopter agrees to register microchip in their name using their current address and phone number by using the mail-in information that will be attached to the actual adoption paper.  Calling HomeAgain at 1-888-466-3242, or by using their website at homeagain.com.  Adopter will also update information anytime he/she moves or changes phone numbers.

Our adoption fee is $100. That includes their vet exam, spay/neuter, two or more of the routine cat vaccinations, rabies vaccination, two dewormings, and a microchip. We adopt our kitties as INDOOR ONLY to keep them safe and NO declawing ☺️

We adopt our young kittens out in pairs unless you have other cats because they need a lot of attention and affection. They tend to develop behavioral problems if they are by themselves including being too aggressive in their play, destructive, and separation anxiety. Please Google Single Kitten Syndrome for more information.

Our volunteers can meet you most days of the week to visit our kitties and for adoptions. Most of our kitties are in foster homes being raised by loving families so if you have one you want to meet, we may have to make arrangements. Please call or text 208-680-3881 for information on any of our kitties.

We reserve the right to place the kitten/cat with the home we feel fits it best. While we try to stick to first come first serve, it is very important to us that our kitties and adopter will be set up for the best success for a long, happy, life together. The personalities and home dynamics need to work well.

Do you agree to keep your new kitty as an indoor only kitty?

Do you agree NOT to declaw your new kitty

Is every adult in the household aware you are adopting a new kitty?  If it's a surprise, is it something they would be ok with?

Are there any known allergies to cats in the household?
(if you answer yes then it is a good idea NOT to get a kitty.)

You are aware that cats live an average lifespan of 12-18+ years and are willing to make a lifetime commitment to your new kitty?

Renters:  does your lease/landlord allow cats. and do you have permission to adopt?

You agree to contact us in the first two weeks of adoption to let us know how your new kitty is adjusting, either by text/call (208) 680-3881 or message us on Facebook at Bingham County Humane Society.

As per our contract, you agree if something happens and you can no longer keep your kitty, you will give the kitty back to our shelter so we can find it a new home.

If applicable, what other pets do you have (number and species)?

Thanks for your adoption interests! We'll get back to you soon.
