OUR MISSION

It is our mission to provide for the adoption and placement of rescued cats and kittens in permanent homes.  We are dedicated to the care and wellbeing of these homeless cats and to educating the public on the need to spay/neuter pets, the prevention of animal cruelty, responsible pet ownership, and actively encouraging trap-neuter-release (TNR) in our community.

Our Story
The BCHS was initially organized in 1991 and has undergone several changes over the years.  Most recently in summer 2021 our long time President, Marcia Williams, retired.

Marcia was a tireless advocate for the animals of Bingham County, especially cats. Because of her efforts and those of other dedicated volunteers, the organization was able to secure a building in November 2013, located at 766 S Broadway in Blackfoot, to house and care for a small number of rescue cats who meet specific criteria.

Volunteer caregivers and foster caregivers prepare our cats for adoption, either directly from our shelter or through PetSmart in Idaho Falls. All animals adopted are spayed or neutered and are up to date on their vaccinations. Beginning February 1, 2022, all adoptable animals will be microchipped. We have cats for every human need, from kittens, to adult, and older cats. This allows the adoptive person or family to choose the right cat for their individual situation.
